Donegal Road Safety Plan 2016 - 2021

We as motorists, pedestrians and cyclists all have a part to play in making our roads safer. By treating each other with courtesy, obeying the rules of the road and being a careful and vigilant driver you too will help to reduce casualties on Donegals roads.

Donegal County Council supports both the European Road Safety Charter and the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. The Decade of Action aims to save 5 million lives on the world’s roads in the next ten years. This represents a total reduction of 50% on the predicted global death toll by 2020. At present, 1.3 million lives are lost and 50 million injuries are sustained as a result of collisions on the world’s roads every year. A total of 195 people lost their lives on Irish roads in 2014, compared to 188 in 2013, a 4% rise.
